Get me to The Greek this summer!

The Greek Theatre is an outdoor venue for music and more, located in Griffith Park. If you saw the movie “Get Him to The Greek,” you saw The Greek Theatre on the silver screen. Owned by the City of Los Angeles and booked by Nederlander Concerts, The Greek Theatre is a great place in the Los Feliz area of Greater L.A. to see a spectacular show, especially in the summertime.

Speaking of summer, The Greek Theatre has a superb line-up of musical acts in 2014. Italian pop-opera trio Il Volo will perform June 7th and singer-songwriters Gavin DeGraw and Matt Nathanson will share the stage on June 18th. Ladies also headline several shows, including Sarah McLachlan on June 28th and a double bill of the legendary Joan Baez with The Indigo Girls on July 3rd. Ringo Starr brings the classic rock sound to The Greek on July 19th, while the boys from Buffalo—Goo Goo Dolls—play a show on July 22nd with Daughtry and Plain White T’s.

All sorts of musical styles will be represented at The Greek during the summer of 2014, including Country, Jazz and Soul. Other concerts to be held at The Greek include Michael McDonald with Toto, Jake Owen, Dierks Bentley, Chicago, Tori Amos, ZZ Top, Los Lonely Boys, Smokey Robinson, Counting Crows, and other popular artists. The Greek seemingly offers something for everyone’s taste.

New this year is the Premier Access Season Subscription (aka P.A.S.S.) which allows you to choose a bunch of shows to attend—getting tickets before the general public has their chance— while also getting unique benefits and deals like access to the Mercedes-Benz Lounge at the Lower Zeus Deck.

When you live in Los Feliz, you live in a place with access to one of America’s best venues for concerts and events. Visit www.GreekTheatreLA.com for more info about 2014’s awesome line-up.

We Love Rockwell Table and Stage

rockwell.jpg

Rockwell Table & Stage at 1714 N. Vermont Avenue in Los Feliz is a great place for dinner and a show. With “call buttons” at tables, you can summon your waiter or waitress for service as needed—a very smart idea.

As a dinner place, Rockwell gets rave reviews for their steak, ribs, and salads. If you have room for dessert, try the flourless chocolate cake.

Meanwhile, Rockwell is unique among entertainment venues in the Greater Los Angeles area because it combines singing, acting and dancing with its shows featuring good looking, talented actors and actresses—a feast for your eyes and ears.

Recently, Baz Luhrmann’s “For the Record” dinner show had a cast that sang their hearts out, doing songs from Luhrmann’s films like Moulin Rouge and The Great Gatsby. It was so popular in February that they’re holding encore performances throughout March.

Also in March, Broadway star and American Idol alum Frenchie Davis presents a two-person pop cabaret show, while actor Jeff Goldblum will appear with the Mildred Snitzer Orchestra.

It’s best to show up an hour early for a decent table before showtime, and if you get a chance, spend some time on the pretty outdoor patio.

Expect the unexpected at Rockwell Table & Stage in our very own Los Feliz.

The Midnight Mission proudly announces its third annual Nowruz at The Midnight—a special street celebration to toast life and revive the spirit during this festive time of renewal— taking place on Friday, March 14th, from 3pm to 6pm at The Midnight on Skid Row in Downtown Los Angeles. Last year’s event saw over 2,500 meals served, more than 140 volunteers and 3,000 articles of clothing distributed. This year, the title sponsor will be California-based brand SKECHERS USA, Inc., which is renowned for their diverse range of lifestyle footwear for men, women and children.

Southern California Iranian Americans are giving back with a traditional Iranian street fair including live entertainment and meal service as well as traditional gift-giving. Hundreds of volunteers, celebrities and local leaders plan to participate. Steeped in history, Nowruz is a 3,000 year-old holiday and an annual celebration that marks the beginning of the Iranian New Year for people of all faiths. In the same spirit, through its life-saving and life-changing programs and initiatives, the Midnight Mission has been a source of revival and renewal for the homeless population of Los Angeles for the past century.  For more information visit their website.
